lyrics

Weightlessly

Someone built a dam
On a river of gold;
Another story of holding back
Instead of letting go.
It held for awhile
But its a patient world;
Dance the dreamtime
Swing and swirl.
I wake up in the morning
Faithfully,
And fall through time
Weightlessly.
We’re riding together.
We’re slipping along.
We start with singing
And then learn the songs
These melodies sure carry,
Though slowly they change,
But its so much in the harmony
Where the music is made.
I hum an old tune
Given down to me,
And fall through time
Weightlessly.
Trumpets sound.
Towers fall.
They’ll probably rise again
And impress us all.
But there’s something wild,
Built on sun and rain,
Where more sure seems more
Though it might be all the same.
I write a word or two
Lazily,
And fall through time
Weightlessly.
Ideas might shine
For a moment each day;
Like a sliver of light
Bending away.
I’m wondering what it is
That’s left to know.
I guess there’s always
Tomorrow.
I leave a dusty trail
Hopefully,
And fall through time
Weightlessly.
I hum an old tune
Given down to me,
And fall through time
Weightlessly.
